This can be done over the phone, in written form, or by email. The latter being carried only with the Inventor's agreement.
An initial telephone conversation is free, provided that we learn nothing about the actual Idea or Invention. This must be learned about after a signed Confidentiality Undertaking has been provided by us, and a full explanation of our working methods has been provided for you. An example can be sent by email if required.
A free telephone conversation involving your idea or Invention, based on "where it lies", can be undertaken in order to provide you with as much knowledge as you wish about developing and protecting an idea or invention, before we learn about your actual idea or invention. By using this approach, an idea or invention belonging to an Inventor, that is in the same field as one previously worked on by Patently Creative, will be treated very carefully, so that there is no conflict of interests.
So, please do not provide any details of your Idea or Invention until we have established the necessary Terms of Reference.
When we know what your Idea or Invention is about but not what it is, then all we need to know about your idea or Invention is just that; we can then decide how to proceed. For example, if the idea or invention is about a new kettle, we will consider whether or not we have worked on "kettles", and proceed carefully.
You may find that others providing services for Inventors having an idea or invention do not take so much care over the avoidance of a "conflict of interests", and therefore could be dealing with the same idea or invention which has been submitted to them before. This can cause considerable problems.
The first essential is for you to receive a written, and posted, signed Confidentiality Undertaking from us, after we have provided you with some of the various alternative options that we provide for Inventors about their Idea or Invention. Secure communication by email is a possibility if you prefer not to use the postal method. However, if you do wish to use the post, then we recommend using Royal Mail Special Delivery for posting such confidential information about your idea or invention to Patently Creative. This method is preferred because the posted item is checked at all points on its way to its destination.
We will need a telephone number and a postal address. Please refer to "Contact Us".
We look forward, very much, to being of service to you, and are confident that you will be very satisfied with our service.
